Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources

The Department of Agriculture and Related Sciences focuses on the relationships between agriculture, the environment, wildlife and humans. Research projects are conducted within the department, including plant molecular genetics, poultry production and others in connection with its Agriculture, MS and Natural Resources, MS degree programs.

The Department of Biological Sciences trains students to develop a clear and unbiased method of critical and logistic thinking, an appreciation and understanding of the natural world, and knowledge of biological principles required to make intelligent and effective decisions with its Biological Sciences, MSMolecular and Cellular Neurosciences, MS; and Neuroscience, PhD programs.

The Department of Business Administration offers students innovative educational opportunities for learning how to successfully lead and manage organizations. Our Business Administration, MBA program, offered at DSU Wilmington, is designed to help professionals further build the skills needed to operate effectively in a rapidly changing competitive global environment.

The Department of Chemistry offers an Applied Chemistry, MS and the only Applied Chemistry, PhD program in the state of Delaware. We prepare our graduate students to stand out in a specialized field of research and develop marketable expertise to advance their careers.

The Department of Computer and Information Sciences provides our Computer Science, MS students the opportunity to work inside six innovative research laboratories. Our students work alongside energetic faculty members who are rooted in computer science with strong research interests in various interdisciplinary areas as well as cybersecurity.

The Department of Education places a high emphasis on excellence and prepares our Educational Leadership, MEd and Educational Leadership, EdD students to navigate the challenges presented by federal and state requirements and become prominent leaders in schools and other educational institutions.

Department of English and Foreign Languages

The Department of English and Foreign Languages offers an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language, an interdisciplinary program designed for educational personnel at the early childhood, elementary and secondary school levels. The program also helps its candidates explore research related to bilingual and bicultural children.

The Department of Human Ecology embraces and promotes the land-grant mission of the University of excellence in teaching, research and outreach. The Department offers a Food Science, MS degree designed to prepare students for future academic and career paths, and technical courses designed for developing practical production and management skills.

Department of Mathematical Sciences

The Department of Mathematical Sciences directs our graduate students toward an understanding of mathematical theory and its relation to other fields of study. Our Applied Mathematics, MSPure Mathematics, MS; and Interdisciplinary Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, PhD programs include an emphasis on precision of definition, reasoning to precise conclusions, and analysis and solution of problems using advanced mathematical principles.

Department of Nursing

The Department of Nursing offers a unique and distinctive educational perspective in nursing that focuses on providing a master’s program that centers on educational aspects linked to diversity. The program offers two concentrations, Global Leadership, and Nursing Education. Graduates are prepared to become leaders in the nursing profession in a multitude of settings, including hospitals, colleges, and universities, healthcare sectors, locally and globally, as well as profit and nonprofit organizations. Delaware State University’s rich cultural history and international student body allow this university to offer an educational experience that provides all students with an education that prepares them to “make their mark on the world.”

The Department of Physics and Engineering prepares our graduate students to achieve professional success and leadership status while opening opportunities to a highly demanding multidisciplinary market. Our Applied Optics, MSPhysics, MS; and Optics, PhD programs are housed within our Optical Sciences Center for Applied Research (OSCAR), a major research center specializing in optical sciences and their broad applications.

The Department of Psychology recognizes and supports the overall mission of Delaware State University by providing students with the necessary education for entry level positions in human service-related fields and preparing students for our graduate Psychology, MS program. More specifically, the psychology program is designed to empower and affirm undergraduate students through broad-based training in the foundations of psychology, which emphasizes the need to understand human behavior through critical thinking and scientific endeavors.

The Department of Public Administration is home to our Public Administration, MPA program. Offered at our DSU Wilmington location, the MPA program is designed to promote career advancement for administrators, managers and analysts in a variety of public sector and nonprofit settings; city and county administrators; human resource professionals; and a wide range of other leadership and management positions in health care, education, nonprofit, and non-governmental organizations.

The Department of Social Work prepares culturally competent professionals guided by values, ethics, and evidence-based practice for professional and leadership roles. The Master of Social Work, MSW program is offered at DSU Wilmington and prepares students for advanced careers in the human services field.
